I had to leave work, one day last week, with horrendous rib pain (turned out to be a chest infection etc) and I had a minute to think through my responsibilities. ‘Scribbles’ and all that goes with it, is a relatively small endeavour, but to do it mainly alone, for three years was a lot of work. I loved bringing Sid and Rosanna on board and the help they provided was immeasurable, especially Sid with the graphic design stuff. But, what started in COVID and was able to carry on because I stopped teaching, and then injured myself, became very, very difficult once I was back to full time teaching. I never managed it well: my desire to please often overshadowed sensible financial decisions (charge for second class, send first class is just one example)- I’m not moaning, I was always so happy to post the magazines out- it just got too big for me and I don’t have the time or means right now to do what needed to be done to help it to grow.
Anyway, so we are on a break. I have cancelled all the background ‘things’ I was paying for and logged out of the accounts.
The freedom and relief has felt brilliant. Please don’t think that takes away from how grateful I’ve been for everyone’s support, and I know that I did a good thing in creating ‘Scribbles’ but also that it is ok to let it go- maybe for a long time.
Rambling now. Everything is still there for you to download and read. Minus the expensive domain name!
Finally, I plan to write a lot of rambly shit here, in ‘Rachael’s writing.’ I couldn’t resist the double meaning of the apostrophe. Bliss.
SO, bye!
Thank you ,
Sorry,
Love,
