'Scribbles' in 2026
saying hello!
I realised that there are a few more subscribers on here, and that there is a chance some of you don’t follow along on the gram! So, hi!
What follows is a little introduction to me. I try not to make promises, and assume that you’re just here for the ride.
I love words: reading them; writing them in a notebook or on a doc; teaching teenagers about them; talking to like-minded people about them; watching them come to life on a stage or screen; hearing them spoken, sung, rapped, screamed or shouted (purposefully and crafted!); and perhaps most of all, sharing ideas and creations via instagram/substack.
A few years ago, we had an amazing little community here. Time's moved on and I've been busy and lost it all somewhere. My novel is dusty and cold, buried under pdfs of worksheets and school newsletters. My notes app is tapping its feet waiting for the rambles that feel like poems to fill its blank white pages. Even my journal is wondering why the scratchy feeling of a nib on its pages is becoming a distant memory.
Meanwhile, I've been consuming YA fiction in increasing amounts, continuing my love of a nib and ink, watching the sky and the moon, living in the Negative Capability of loving Pussy Palace and Hopper at the same time (iykyk) and grasping moments for myself while being in demand full time.
Anywho, as the amazing Jade wrote: 'it's hard enough to be alive, we might as well dance or die', so I'm writing this, and living.
No clue what 2026 holds for me, but I hope it will hold more words for me. And for you!
Happy New (Calender) Year and see you soon!
Rachael xx

A prompt:
# ... that's when I realised- something don't feel right... # thank you @lilyallen
Write about a feeling that you or a character has, that is uncomfortable, mysterious or strange.
What is the feeling? (L.O.V.E? iykyk)
How does it appear?
Will you/they act on it?
You don't have to write a lot. But maybe you will.
Ramble over. If you get this far it would be amazing if you subscribed, shared this post, read something from my archives, tried out a prompt, liked or restacked. I thrive on positive reinforcement and dopamine!

Hello, I look forward to see your scribbles. I have been scribbling along myself, non-fiction. Quite heavy stuff. I would love to balance this a bit with more fun.
